When I called to make a boarding reservation, I was assured that they could handle large dogs. I told them we had a Great Dane. When we arrived to check-in, each person took a step back when they saw Bella and kept saying "she's big" over and over. We were gone less than 10 minutes before we were called to pick her up. We've boarded her before and never had issues. I think the ladies were nervous and Bella picked up on that. I wish they had been honest up front and said they don't take large dogs so that we could've found a better fit for Bella. Now we're stuck paying for a hotel room we couldn't use. Special shoutout to Dolphin Oceanfront Motel, where we and Bella were welcomed to a clean, friendly atmosphere.

While visiting Nags Head, my 9 month old lab puppy was attacked by another dog on the beach. I called Nags Head Animal Hospital right before closing time and they told me to come on in. I can not say enough nice things about Dr. Welch and his staff about our visit. The moment we walked in the door, Teresa got our information quickly and Jonathan the vet tech started helping us. Dr Welch did a thorough examination and took his time even with us being well over business hours. Our puppy needed two drains and stitches and she was treated with the utmost care. The office called the next day to check on our pup. We returned a few days later to have the drains removed. I am so thankful we found Dr. Welch and Nags Head Animal Hospital.

They don't have emergency vet on staff after hours.

My Bichon Frise had a dark scab on her head that was not healing. I feared skin cancer. I called and was given an appointment if I could be there in 25 minutes. She was seen by a doctor who took time to carefully examine and ultimately removed the scab to expose mostly healed skin. She gave her an antibiotic to speed healing and another med to relieve itching. The charge was less than I thought it would be. I will recommend this doctor to everyone I know. Myra Cannon

Terrible experience. Charged us $300 to "clean out" our dog's ears (which he actually had my son do) and then trimmed his nails. We were on Christmas vacation. When we returned home (two weeks later) we had to take him to our regular vet to clean out his ears properly and have him treated for an infected claw which was cut too close. Far too expensive for the lousy "service" we received. Never have seen such a bad, unprofessional vet.....
