Just on the pier, there is a restaurant (Nags head pier restaurant). you must try that.
We thought it is public pier but it was a private one and they charge $2/person to go out there. We roam around fishing pier, it gives a good view of nags head beach. Sand dunes and beach houses behind it give picture card view. Sunset from here looks quite amazing. It is quite an old pier as at the end of the pier when waves bump into wood logs, platform got quite shaky. I got scared first. Whoops..
First time fishing there me and my wife she loved catching two fish at a time the staff were really nice and helpful
Food is excellent at the restaurant, we've made it a tradition to come here for years. We enjoy walking out on the pier, good fishing for those who enjoy that too. Recently stayed in the upstairs apartment #3, loved the location, large space, and porch views. Easy beach access as well. Our favorite place in the OBX.

New restaurant is a wonderful "inside/outside" place. Watch the waves roll in while you have lunch or just drop in for a cocktail. Food is basic beach food and 4 out 5 stars for quality.
While we were waiting to be seated, a gentlemen left because he wasn't helped. The waitress made a big deal about it because she had too many tables etc. We ended up getting seated in her section and we did not get served to for 30 minutes (we ended up just leaving while she was serving the person next to us who had just sat down 2 minutes prior). I had to get our own drinks at the bar while other people were getting their seats and being served by the same waitress. Did not happen to get her name but I would not recommend this place for the lack of respect and lack of service.
